University of Florida Basketball

Basketball Practice & Recruiting Complex

Gainesville, FL

It’s critical for a college athletics program to build and capitalize on a brand that attracts future recruits. And a key to a storied program’s brand is its past accomplishments. Working with design partner Downstream, Xibitz leveraged the Florida Athletics’ brand, by showcasing the Florida basketball story while seamlessly creating brand continuity across the athletics department – through original graphics, digital media, technology and specialty fixtures distributed throughout the facility.

Xibitz’ execution of this dynamic and inspirational experience is seen throughout the complex’s atrium and lobby, men’s and women’s coaches’ offices, the men’s practice gym and locker room, the media center and the players’ lounge. Xibitz provided project and vendor management, design solutions, value engineering, production of all brand elements, fabrication, and installation strategy/execution.

Cleveland Cavaliers

Rocket Mortgage Field House

Cleveland, OH

When the Cleveland Cavaliers announced that they were upgrading the Rocket Mortgage Field House Arena in downtown Cleveland, Xibitz was given the contract to work with the General Contractor, Whiting-Turner, and their design team, Infinite Scale, to help develop and produce exciting new elements in the arena concourse. The “Flex Walls” include beautiful graphics, big screens, interactive elements, cases with team artifacts and other engaging visuals and stories about the team and its history. The newly renovated arena will be a centerpiece for sports and entertainment in the ever-changing landscape of Cleveland.

Player’s Development Complex

When Xibitz was awarded the contract to work with RISE, a full-service project management company, for a project with the Toronto Blue Jays/ Player Development Complex, our custom fabrication team began a productive and successful relationship that created a welcoming environment for the team at their complex in Dunedin, FL, near Tampa. The complex included the following:

  • Reception Area
  • Logo Feature Wall
  • Locker Room Entry and Locker Room
  • Lenticular Wall

The entire project was fabricated in our Grand Rapids, MI shop and then shipped to Dunedin, Florida and met by our installation crew. We worked closely with RISE and the Blue Jays and after months of collaboration and teamwork, the new complex is ready for players and coaches.

University of Oklahoma

Gaylord Family Oklahoma Memorial Stadium

Norman, OK

For the South End Zone stadium renovations, Xibitz executed the Populous designed recruiting spaces and lobby displays celebrating OU’s prodigious history and enduring success. The project included a curved championship display with a built-in touch-screen tablet from which visitors can select a background template and take a selfie from a ceiling-mounted camera, dimensional environmental graphics throughout the player-access spaces and hype areas, as well as fully integrated, pulsating music-driven lighting that is tailored for game-day or recruiting tours.

University of Cincinnati

George & Helen Smith Athletic Museum

Cincinnati, OH

To help the University of Cincinnati engage star students and student-athletes, Xibitz assisted in creating one impressive experience after another at the University’s athletic museum. The project’s goals: Communicate the benefits and notable achievements of the University’s educational excellence and rich athletic heritage, utilizing the building’s central atrium space as a museum, archive, welcome center and recruiting vehicle.

As the contract manager for Perkins&Will | Eva Maddox Branded Environments, Xibitz produced design and build features including large-scale environmental graphics, signage elements, interactive kiosks, archival artifact displays, and interactive projection for multimedia communication, all within a pre-existing budget and very tight schedule. Custom glass display cases and engaging interactive experiences fill the Museum. Additionally, 120-foot diagonal Holopro screens are suspended six floors above the Museum’s atrium and display a visiting athlete’s most recent footage. The Celebration Walk is a custom terrazzo floor with motion sensors that trigger highlight footage on video monitors as visitors walk by. Laser-cut, internally lit 12-foot steel poles are motion-censored to display backlit text and graphics when triggered.
